Yukari was born in Ibara, a city located in Japan's Okayama region, an ancient center of ceramic craft. In 1995, she settled in New Brunswick, Canada, where she studied at the College of Craft and Design in Fredericton, majoring in Clay. A member of the Quebec Crafts Council (CMAQ), her work carries both cultures.
Yukari is known for her mastery of overglaze painting, a technique where she applies delicate brushstrokes onto already fired pieces. She transforms each teapot, bowl and cup into a canvas, bridging Japanese tradition with a North-American nuance. Hand-painted in her Montréal studio, each unique ceramic cup, bowl, or teapot showcases Japanese-inspired designs such as cherry blossoms, winter camellias, morning glories, and maples.
