Originally from Alsace, France, and Vietnam and based in Bedford, in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, Léa Behr and Nicolas Hoang have been ceramists since 2016. Partners in life as in the studio, they complement one another through their origins and their respective backgrounds in architecture and fine crafts. Their atypical path gives them an external perspective on functional ceramics, leading them to rethink everyday forms. With an unapologetic approach and minimal means, they optimize a simple material, red stoneware. From this rigorous work emerge sculptural pieces in which utility remains central.
