Phở Bowl

Description

This bowl holds up to 1.8 L of liquid and is ideal for large soups like Pho. Use it for noodle soups and aromatic toppings or to share a small salad. Handcrafted on the potter's wheel by Léa and Nicolas, a couple in life and in the studio, in the Eastern Townships. Made from red stoneware sourced from the North American Prairies.

Origins

Handmade in Bedford, Québec

Engobe (liquid clay) and glazes were sourced from Canadian and US manufacturers

Process

Hand-thrown on the potter's wheel with red stoneware

After the first drying, engobe (liquid clay) was poured into the piece to give it a white color

The piece was then trimmed of excess clay and the exterior was polished, to give it its refined form

After the first firing in the electric kiln, the piece was glazed inside. The exterior was left in its natural state

Finally, the piece was fired for a second time, reaching around 1,200⁰C (2,200⁰F) after several hours
