From salads to saucy dishes to pastas and soups, the Jellyfish Pasta Bowl is an all-around dish for your tableware set. Catherine made them on the potter's wheel using porcelain. Each bowl has a unique set of jellyfish.

By contrasting a smooth interior with a coarser, anchor-grey exterior, Catherine plays with textures that echo the natural world. Inside and out and from bowl to bowl, the jellyfish drift, creating a whimsical feeling of being at sea.

Process

Catherine makes each bowl on the potter's wheel

Once the bowl is dry, she puts it back on the wheel to trim it. It’s also at this stage that she paints it with pigmented engobe (colored clay)

Catherine fires her pieces three times in an electric kiln over several days: a bisque firing, a glaze firing at ˜1,232⁰C (2,250°F), and a final firing for the handmade decals
